Refuge
2018
Refuge is a solo performance installation, created in response to my increased use of and reliance on my own imagination during the creative process. It also stemmed from my interest in exploring alternative projection sites (a film is projected from a projector attached to my own body onto a self-constructed head-screen) and the portability of that technology.
What would it look like if the imagination was considered a space for refuge; a self-constructed virtual-reality which can exist outside of conventional concepts of temporality and spatial perception? Can the imagination endure outside of the cycle of past, present and future as a different temporality, and what purpose does memory serve within this matrix?
